Wrongful Conviction
This young girl is going to jail for 15 months, and probation, after the appeal. They say she could have got 20 years. The reason we think this is a wrongful conviction; is because it’s not against the law, what she did in the state that this happened. 40 out of 50 states have laws about assisted suicide, but Massachusetts isn’t one of them. We understand the anger about what she did or didn’t do, and we are saddened by the loss it’s heartbreaking. If a prosecutor can stretch the law in a way that doesn’t fit what it was created for, there’s something wrong! If a judge can convict someone for something that wasn’t against the law we are all in trouble. Laws should be precise in their meaning. So everyone, including the judge and prosecutor can interpret them correctly. Until artificial intelligence progresses to a point that can replace them; we hope someone is working on that. The human brain will have to do. This is our reasoning for a multiple judge digital court that can even out the different interpretations of the law and leave out the emotional aspect of the case.
